Bratapfel/Baked Apple

Bratäpfel are a simple dessert made from oven-baked apples. They are traditionally made in the winter at Christmas time from storable, firm and sour apple varieties such as Boskoop. In the simplest form of preparation, the whole, unpeeled apples are baked over medium heat until the peel bursts, and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. Usually, however, the core housing is cut out before and the hole with a mixture of, for example, nuts, raisins, jam, marzipan and spices such as cinnamon and cloves filled. Baked apples are often served with vanilla sauce or ice cream.
Btw, the fruity treat is an old home remedy for hoarseness. Slowly eat three honey-baked baked apples. It apparently releases enzymes that are good for your vocal cords.
A poem by an unknown author (probably written by Fritz and Emily Kögel around 1901) entitled Der Bratapfel (The Baked Apple) is considered to be an traditional Bavarian/Upper German "folk heritage" (wow, there's no english word for "Volksgut" xD) and is often read or presented at Christmas time. It goes like this:

Kinder, kommt und ratet,
was im Ofen bratet!
Hört, wie’s knallt und zischt.
Bald wird er aufgetischt,
der Zipfel, der Zapfel,
der Kipfel, der Kapfel,
der gelbrote Apfel.

Kinder, lauft schneller,
holt einen Teller,
holt eine Gabel!
Sperrt auf den Schnabel
für den Zipfel, den Zapfel,

Baked apples! I usually don't like hot apples (cooked, baked or whatever), but Bratäpfel are fine. They are suuuper winterly in my opinion. xD Like- I'd consider it a crime if somebody would eat it in spring or something, haha~

You prob already figured it out, but I might as well say it: Many of the clothes the characters wear are inspired and/or in some way (mostly colours) associated with the various coats of arms of the states. ^^
